BRAD DOLAN

Brad Dolan by William Fuller

It began with Back Country

Tough guy. Pushover for a gorgeous broad. More looks than brains, but he makes up for it with street sense…lots of it. Dolan’s been around more than most. Florida, Bahamas, Keys, Cuba. He likes his 1950’s version of sunshine and islands, all seen through the portholes of his soulmate, a classic old wooden tub of a live-aboard, Jessie. Not much to look at, but 41 feet of solid seaworthiness and old Florida charm.

Seems no matter what his intentions, he finds himself deeper and deeper in mystery, intrigue, murder and sex. It usually starts out with trying to help some dame out of some sort of trouble, or maybe he’s working an angle for enough honest-or-slightly-dirty cash to keep his dreams and his boat afloat.

He thought he’d worn out his conscience at Guadalcanal, Bastogne, the Inchon Reservoir – and in a New York apartment where a restless model forgot she was his wife. Much like many desire, he leaves all that behind to drift around the backwoods, beaches, bays and islands.

In the process his adventures find him tangled with small-time crooks, the mob, dirty cops, politicians, revolutionaries and, always, beautiful women. Indiana Jones in 1950!
