William Fuller

Born in Boston, raised in Central Florida, Bill Fuller capitalized on his brief stint as an advertising creative in NY before the war, and his life-and-death experiences as an infantryman in the Pacific Theatre to create a series of acclaimed short stories for Collier’s, Fortune and Esquire that established him as an author of substance before tackling his first novel, Back Country, setin Central Florida in the 1950’s.

The first of six Brad Dolan adventure stories, the book was an immediate success for both Fuller and Dell Publishing. Those who knew Bill felt like they already knew Brad. They were clearly cut from the same cloth.

Fuller was an advertising exec in NYC, a merchant seaman, hobo, actor, model and behind enemy lines Infantry Captain in the Pacific in WW II.

Re-establishing on Florida’s WestCoast in 1948 opened his eyes to the colorful tapestry that was Florida and the Islands in the 50’s and 60’s. This was his stomping ground, and much of what Brad Dolan experienced was William Fuller’s story without the boundaries of convention.
